The Cooks Companion
The Cook’s Companion has established itself as the kitchen ‘bible’ in over 500,000 homes since it was first published in 1996. This massive volume changed my life and, if I am to believe the steady stream of letters and contacts with readers, the lives of many others. The 2014 revision includes two major new chapters, two expanded chapters, 70 new recipes and a complete revision of the text to reflect changes in the marketplace and new regulations. The book contains information about ingredients, cooking techniques and kitchen equipment, along with inspiration, advice and encouragement and close to 1000 failsafe recipes. For each ingredient there is information on varieties, season, selection, storage, preparation and cooking, as well as recipes and quick cooking ideas. I have been humbled by its reception. I am excited to think that maybe I have contributed something that has encouraged non-cooks to become cooks, men and boys to venture into the kitchen, good cooks to become more relaxed in their cooking, and perhaps most exciting of all, a work that speaks encouragingly to the very young.

We offer free shipping for all NZ orders over $150 to residential addresses and free shipping over $200 for orders going to rural addresses.
Other shipping rates will be calculated at checkout.
Change of mind
Changed your mind? It happens. You can return eligible items within 7 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in their original packaging, and in the same condition you received them. You’ll need proof of purchase (your order confirmation, receipt, or even a bank statement).
Return shipping for change-of-mind returns is at your cost, and your original shipping charge isn’t refundable. We can’t accept returns on sale items, gift cards, perishable goods (like food products), or custom/personalised items.
Damaged, faulty or incorrect items
We want everything to arrive looking as good as it does online. If your item is faulty, damaged, misdescribed, or not what you ordered, please email us as soon as you spot the issue - within 48 hours for anything damaged in transit. Include your order number, a short description, and photos please.
How to start a return
Pop us an email at hey@getsaucy.co.nz with your order number, what you’d like to return, and why. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you all the details. Please don’t send anything back without contacting us first - it slows the process down.
Refunds
Once we’ve received and checked your return, we’ll let you know if it’s approved. Approved refunds are processed back to your original payment method within 10 business days. (Banks and card providers sometimes take a few extra days to show it.) If it’s been more than 15 business days since your refund was approved, drop us a line at hey@getsaucy.co.nz.
